Craig Biggio Not Elected To The Hall Of Fame

Really disappointing…makes me want to apply as a voter

Houston (CBS Houston) – Craig Biggio is not headed to Cooperstown. The Baseball Hall of Fame announced today that the 48-year old Astros great was not elected to the 2014.  Biggio received 74.8% of the vote to be elected.  75% is needed to make the Hall of Fame.

Biggio played 20 big league seasons, all in an Astros uniform and amassed 3,060 hits, 1175 RBI, and 291 home runs. By breaking the 3,000 hit mark, Biggio became one of only 28 players in MLB history to accomplish the feat. He was also a four-time gold glover, seven-time all-star, and five-time silver slugger award winner.

Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and Frank Thomas are the only players that did get into the Hall of Fame.

Biggio made his major league debut as a catcher on June 26th, 1988. He played multiple positions in his early years before settling into second base on a permanent basis in 1992. Later…
